This is the latest project pistol from Sandy Gun Works. It is an M-1912 Steyr-Hahn with the following features.
  1. Relined barrel chambered in 9mm Largo to better feed 9mm Steyr and 9mm Largo.
  2. Black oxide slide, hammer, trigger, and barrel wedge.
  3. Hard chrome lower.
  4. "Squeezed" slide.
  5. Reproduction grips.
  6. All parts checked for fit, polished in appropriate places, and working surfaces restored.

This pistol has had all surfaces restored and 98% of all pits and dings removed. The pistol as originally received was the standard Steyr-Hahn available in the U.S. today. A parts pistol built from a bin of parts. The barrel was shot out and was relined with a standard twist barrel turned down to fit.

The slide had had the crest removed by belt sanding and was pitted from much service use. It was filed, sanded, and polished to remove the majority of surface imperfections. The frame and floor plate also had the surfaces restored as best as possible. The slide was carefully "squeezed" to fit the slide and black oxide refinished. This required special treatment as the Steyr's slide is hardened before the chamber area for the locking lugs of the barrel. The trigger and hammer were polished, black oxide refinished and then had the sides re-polished to remove any color.

The complete lower was hard chromed after the removal of the majority of dings and pits. I do not fill pits with weld as it is expensive work and the pistols I build are shooters. All screw heads were restored and screw slots re-cut.

Vintage Industries reproduction grips were fitted as the grip panels on most pistols are extremely loose and in poor condition.

A custom square cut front sight could have been fitted with the rear sight machined to match. Similar work can be done on most any pistol. As always, feel free to e-mail your thoughts and we can discuss any projects you have in mind.

These folks do fine work. I prefer black oxide to bluing as it is "Industrial Strength" and more durable. It penetrates the metal several tenths of a thousandth and hardens the surface to a small extent.

Again, these folks do a 1st rate job. Because of the design of the M-1912, special consideration must be given to the working surfaces the the barrel rides in. Surgi-Chrome did a fabulous job. Call and speak to Roger for an estimate or to discuss your project.
